Mesenchymal Stem Cell Conditioned Media Based Formulation for Wound Healing

Background:
Treating skin wounds with minimal scar formation is a challenge in human as well as in veterinary medicine. Though, stem cell therapy has been proved to heal wounds faster with minimum scar formation but due to possibility of immune rejection, more technicalities in application, and being costly affair it is still not much popular amongst livestock and pet owners. While conditioned media has no such problems:
Technology Details:
The most accepted mechanism of action of MSCs in regenerative therapy is due to secretions from these cells, as these cells are well known for secreting various growth factors and cytokines in response to environmental cues and thus proposed to secrete these growth factors and cytokines in culture media (Dvorak et al., 2005; Ansari et al., 2013; Joseph et al., 2020). Using stem cell conditioned medium is as a novel and promising alternative. It improved wound healing rate with very less scar formation and can be applied in allogenic as well as in xenogenic mode without immune rejection problem and also cost effective than stem cells therapy.
